Phase One of AMEN

The Atlantic Major Event Network (AMEN) is a new initiative of Atlantic Pedaler.  The overall goal is to connect cyclists in the Atlantic region through a collaboration of sharing ideas and strengthening the Atlantic cycling community.

Phase One of AMEN is officially underway with a second phase to be announced on May 11, 2008, the anniversary of Bible Hill (N.S.) native Karl Creelman's journey to bicycle around the world (in 1899).

Phase One is calling on all current major bicycle event organizers / planners in Atlantic Canada.

PHASE ONE: Major Event Organizers
AMEN is about having a co-ordinated mechanism for planning and for recruiting cyclists to major events in our region.  Enrollment in this Network is FREE.  This Network is about building a community of major cycling events in our region that offers organizers a planned approach to selecting dates, sharing ideas, reaching more cyclists, and perhaps even sharing resources (the only limits are those we place on ourselves!).

In order to become a Member of the AMEN Partner Hub, your event must meet the following criteria:

  1. My event has had at least 60 riders participate in the last running of the event (in most cases, this will be last year; in some cases, it will be the last time your event ran);
  2. My event must be hosted by one of the four Atlantic Provinces;
  3. I agree to send my draft email about my own event prior to the deadline: March 31  annually.   If I miss the deadline, my information will not be sent but I agree to follow through on sending the information about other Atlantic events.
  4. I understand that Atlantic Pedaler will edit all the various events and write one email with the information received from the Partners before the deadline;
  5. I understand that Atlantic Pedaler will send me a copy of the email to proof and within 48 hours I must request any changes;
  6. I understand Atlantic Pedaler will then forward the final email to the Partners to be sent;
  7. I agree to send the final email to all riders who have participated in my event in the past years (except in cases where people have indicated to be left off your mailing list);
  8. In addition to accepting the email final copy and sending this email to past riders of the major event I organize, I will also accept any printed material and include printed material in my own event registration package provided it arrives at least 10 days before the event;
  9. I understand that Atlantic Pedaler will post contact information about my event on its web site in the AMEN page;
  10. I also understand that by joining this FREE network that I will be able to have 5,000 free ad impressions on Atlantic Pedaler (a $25 fee will apply if you wish Atlantic Pedaler to design the ad for you).

 So, if this Network interests you, please contact Ken Trenholm to discuss your event and how it fits with the criteria.
